Postgame Show P: And we're back. We had some technical difficulties during the commercial break - C: They shouldn't have put the main power cable where someone could trip over it. P: That big red cable with bright yellow tape on it? Hard to see it lying way out of the way there, wasn't it? Welcome back to beautiful Ottawa Stadium for the Post Game Show, brought to you by Canada Post, where it absolutely, positively, in all probability get somewhere eventually, maybe. We'll be announcing the player of the game and have interviews with several of the key players from today's game. C: But first, a recap of today's game. P: It was an exciting game today between the Sailor Senshi and the Dark Kingdom Overlords. The Senshi scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first. Sailor Mars lead off with a single against Jadeite. With Sailor Moon batting, Sailor Mars stole second and was then sent to third on Sailor Moon's sacrifice bunt. Sailor Venus then came up. [begin playback] P: Jadeite again pitches from the stretch. The pitch, swing! and Sailor Venus hits the ball to the gap. Sailor Mars scores easily. Nephrite retrieves the ball and throws it to Zoisite at second. Sailor Venus holds at first. But the Senshi have scored the first run of the game and lead one-nothing. [end playback] P: The Senshi lead the game one nothing at that point. Sailor Uranus then came to bat and drove a double to deep center field, placing runners at second and third. Jadeite then hit Sailor Jupiter with a pitch to load the bases. With one out Sailor Neptune came to the plate. We now go to the oh-one pitch. [begin playback] P: Sailor Neptune steps back into the batter's box. Jadeite gets his sign, winds up, and pitches. Sailor Neptune drives it deep to right field, but Nephrite is under it. Sailor Venus easily scores on Sailor Neptune's sacrifice fly. C: But it is rubbing it in by running backwards. P: Sailor Uranus moves to third, but Sailor Jupiter stays at first. [end playback] P: The score was now two-nothing for the Senshi. That was all that the Senshi would score in the first inning. The Overlords would cut the lead in half in the top of the second. Nephrite lead the inning with a double to left field. Malachite then singled to right placing runners on the corners. Then Ann came to bat. After taking the first pitch for a ball... [begin playback] C: Tuxedo Mask is having a hard time this inning after he got the Overlords in order in the first. P: That he is. He's ready in the stretch. The pitch, a fastball. Ann hits a chopper over Sailor Saturn's head. Sailor Mercury grabs the ball but there's no play that she can make. Nephrite scores! C: Tough break for Tuxedo Mask. But it could have been worse if Sailor Mercury hadn't been backing up Sailor Saturn. And I know - Don't give me that look. I know what I heard. Background Noise (BN): >CLUNK< >thunk< >thunk< >thunk< [end playback] P: That was the only run scored by the Overlords in second inning. Tuxedo Mask then struck out the Tennis Youma and had Zoisite ground out to short the end the inning. The Senshi scored again in the bottom of the third inning. Sailor Venus, with one out singled. Sailor Uranus struck out as Sailor Venus stole second. C: Almost literally. P: Sailor Jupiter then came to bat. After Jadeite almost hit her again with a pitch, a warning was issued by the home plate umpire Greg. After everyone was calmed down: [begin playback] Time has been called while Luna and Sailor Moon try to calm down Sailor Jupiter. Sailor Neptune has gone over to keep Sailor Uranus in the dugout. Sailor Jupiter returns to the plate, calmer but she's still upset. Jadeite checks the runner, pitches from the stretch. It's a fastball! Sailor Jupiter swings! It's going to left-center field. It's going back! back! and the cat's out of the bag! A two-run home run for Sailor Jupiter! BN: Whoomp! There it is! Whoomp! There it is! Whoomp! There it is! P: And the Senshi have taken a four to one lead over the Overlords. Sailor Jupiter parked that ball on Coventry Road. Sailor Venus cartwheels over home plate. Sailor Jupiter takes her time getting around the bases, savoring the blast out of the park. [end playback] P: Sailor Jupiter hit a two-run home run, increasing the score to four to one in favor of the Senshi. The Overlords scored again in the top of the fourth, though, keeping the game tight. Alan lead the inning with a single. Nephrite then comes to bat. With the count at oh and one... [begin playback] P: Sailor Pluto is looking around for the spare catcher's gear. Nephrite steps back up to the plate. Tuxedo Mask has his sign, checks Alan at first. The pitch. Alan's moving on the pitch! Nephrite swings! and hits the ball to deep left field over Sailor Neptune's head. Alan rounds second! The ball rolls to the corner. Sailor Neptune gets the ball. Alan rounds third and he's heading for home! Sailor Neptune throws the ball in. It's cut off by Sailor Saturn. Alan scores the second run for the Overlords. Nephrite holds on second with his second double of the day. The Senshi's lead has been cut to a four-two lead. [end playback] P: Nephrite had his second double of the day. Malachite hit a sac fly to deep right field, advancing Nephrite to third. Ann then came to the plate with the same situation she had in the second, with one out and Nephrite on third. With the count oh and two... [begin playback] P: Tuxedo Mask gets the sign. He winds up, pitches. It's a change up. Ann swings! She drives the ball past a diving Sailor Mars into left field. Nephrite scores! Sailor Neptune comes up with the ball and fires it to Sailor Mercury. Ann holds on first with a single and an RBI. The Senshi now only have a one-run lead over the Overlords. [end playback] P: And the Senshi's lead was cut to one run. But the inning wasn't over for Tuxedo Mask. What should have been an easy play for Sailor Moon lead to runners on first and third. But she redeemed herself for the first of two errors she committed. [begin playback] P: Zoisite steps back into the batter's box. The runners take their lead, Ann on second, the Tennis Youma on first. One out, the count is oh-and-one. From the stretch, a slider. Zoisite smashes a screaming line drive up the first base line. Sailor Moon dives! and comes up with the ball. She slaps at the bag and gets! the double play! Sailor Moon has made an unassisted double play to end the top of the fourth inning. [end playback] P: Sailor Moon came through with an inning ending double play to preserve the Senshi's four-three lead over the Overlords. The Overlords scored again in the top of the fifth. After striking out Jadeite, Tuxedo Mask gave up a hit to the Overlords' lead off hitter Racy. While Rubeus was batting, Racy stole second, then third on consecutive pitches. On the one-one pitch: [begin playback] P: Tuxedo Mask steps on the rubber. He checks the runner. The pitch, a breaking ball. Rubeus swings. It's a grounder to third. Sailor Mars checks the play at the plate, throws to first for the out. Sailor Mars had no chance to get Racy out at home and the game is tied at four. The Senshi's pitching coach walks, er, trots out to the mound. Diana wants a talk with Tuxedo Mask. And since we have time, the rest of the interview. [end playback] P: And since we have time to fill, let's here that part of the interview again. [begin interview] C: So, tell me Sailor Uranus, strike out often? Sailor Uranus: Who let the trash in here? Sailor Moon: Mars came with us. Sailor Mars: I heard that, you brat! C: Oh, cat fight! Sailor Jupiter: Uranus, care to help me with the garbage? Sailor Uranus: You read my mind. C: Hey! What are you doing? Put me down! Sailor Jupiter: Ready? Sailor Uranus: Ready. C: Aieeeeeeee! BN: >Thump< >Thump< >Bonk< [end interview] P: The game was tied at four all. Tuxedo Mask struck out Alan to end the inning, but the damage was done. In the sixth inning, Jadeite was ejected after hitting Sailor Jupiter for the second time today. He was replaced by Fiore. The Overlords took the lead in the seventh inning. The Tennis Youma singled to lead off the inning. Zoisite then singled to place runners at second and third. Kaolinite pinch hit for Fiore. We go to the tape: [begin playback] C: Come back, birdies! P: While my partner is lost in his own world, I'll handle his job. Can't be difficult if he can do it. Kaolinite is batting .265 with four home runs and seventeen RBIs as a pinch hitter. She comes to bat with two on and none out. She steps into the batter's box. Tuxedo Mask checks the runner at second. He goes into his stretch. Tuxedo Mask checks the runner again. The pitch, a hard fastball. Kaolinite swings! and drives the ball down the first base line! Sailor Moon charges in. She fields it and throws! to third. The play... the ball is thrown past Sailor Mars and into the Senshi's dugout! The Tennis Youma scores! Zoisite is held on third by Melvin, the third base umpire. Kaolinite winds up on second. The scorer rules the play as a fielder's choice and an error on Sailor Moon, her second of the game and a costly one as the Overlords take the lead for the first time in the ballgame. [end playback] P: The Overlords took a five-four lead on Sailor Moon's error. The next batter was Racy. On the first pitch: [begin playback] P: She comes to bat with a runners on second and third and still none out in the top of the seventh. Racy steps up to the plate. Tuxedo Mask is now pitching from the pitching. He checks the runner at third. He winds up. The runners take their lead. The pitch, a sinking fastball. Racy swings! It's a grounder to short. Sailor Saturn holds the runner at second, checks the play at the plate and throws to first for the first out of the inning. Zoisite scores on the play. The Overlords now have a two run lead. [end playback] P: Rubeus then walked, but Alan hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the inning. But the Overlords had a six-four lead after six and a half. The Senshi cut the lead in the bottom of the seventh. With Prisma now pitching for the Overlords, Sailor Pluto, pinch-hitting for Tuxedo Mask, had a timely hit. Sailor Mars, with two stolen bases so far today then singled, placing runners at first and second. After Sailor Moon struck out and Sailor Venus popped out to the catcher, Sailor Uranus singled, loading the bases for Sailor Jupiter. With the count oh and two: [begin playback] P: Sailor Jupiter is ready. Prisma winds-up. The pitch, a fastball, swung! on. Sailor Jupiter sends the ball out to right field. It falls in front of Nephrite. Sailor Pluto scores! Sailor Mars rounds third. She's going home! The throw to the plate is in! time! for the third out of the inning. But Sailor Jupiter drove in a run to cut the Overlords' lead to one. The scoreboard for this inning: one run on four hits and two left on base. After seven fill innings of play, the Overlords lead the Senshi by a score of six to five. [end playback] P: And the score remained six to five for the Overlords until the bottom of the ninth. With Avery pitching for the Overlords, Luna pulled the Moonlight Knight for a pinch-hitter, Sailor Chibi-Moon. Sailor Chibi-Moon was walked on four pitches and was replaced by the Senshi's manager Luna to pinch run. Sailor Mars then singled, moving Luna to second. Sailor Moon then came up. [begin playback] C: Sailor Moon is oh for three with a sacrifice. She struck out in her last at bat. P: Sailor Moon comes to the plate with none out and runners at first and second. Avery is still pitching from the stretch. Sailor Moon is ready. Avery checks the runner at second. From the stretch, the pitch is a fastball swung! on and missed for strike one. Oh and one. C: Avery is in her stride. P: Sailor Moon returns to the batter's box. Avery goes to her set position. She checks the runners. From the stretch. The runners take healthy leads. The pitch, another fastball. The runners go! Sailor Moon swings! and misses for strike two. Malachite throws to third! Luna slides! under the tag and is safe on third! The throw to second is not! in time! Luna and Sailor Mars have executed a perfect double-steal! Time has been called to let the runners get set. Sailor Moon gets her signs from Artemis. C: Is it me or does she look confused down there. P: You're the expert on being confused here, you tell me. C: Yeah, it does look like confusion. P: Sailor Moon steps back up to the plate. The throw from left field is not! in time! Sailor Mars scores the winning run! The Senshi win! [end playback] P: With gutsy running by Sailor Mars, the Senshi scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to win seven to six. The two starting pitchers had no decision from the game. The winning pitcher was the Moonlight Knight, the losing pitcher Avery. Sailor Moon gets the game winning RBI. We'll be back after these messages with an interview with the player of the game. The production crew suggested Sailor Jupiter, Tuxedo Mask, and Sailor Mars, all of whom deserve merit. But there can only be one. C: Watch the spatula! You almost took off my head! P: Today's player of the game is Nephrite, who went three for four with two runs scored and one RBI. A donation will be made to the charity of Nephrite's choice in his name. So while my partner heads down to get an interview with Nephrite- BN: >Crash< >Hey!< >Look out!< >Watch the stairs!< >Augh!< >Thumpump- bumpthumpSPLAT< P: I'll replay some more game highlights. There was an unusual situation in the middle of the fifth, when the missing Senshi was found to be first base. [begin playback] Sailor Venus: He helped. Luna: But he wasn't the only one involved. Sailor Chibi-Moon: Pink... Sailor Moon: Chibi-Moon, no! Don't! Sailor Mars: No! Someone stop her! Sailor Chibi-Moon: Sugar... Luna: Sailor Chibi-Moon, don't! It would be a disaster! Artemis: Someone stop her! Sailor Jupiter: Supreme... Sailor Chibi-Moon: Heart... Sailor Mercury: Chibi-Moon! Stop! That's the writer! You zap him, we stay tied like this. And I don't want to do Sailor Moon V again! Sailor Jupiter: THUNDER! BN: >Crack< Sailor Chibi-Moon: AT-ahhhhhhh! BN: >Fzzzt< [end playback] P: Sailor Venus, in another of her practical jokes, had replaced first base with Sailor Chibi-Moon. My producer tells me that Chad's now in the Overlords' dugout. We now go down to the dugout with Chad for his interview with Nephrite. C: Thank you, Ukyou. I'm down in the dugout with today's player of the game, Nephrite. Nephrite, you seem as if you expected to be named the player of the game. Nephrite: The stars foretold this. The stars see all. C: We had stars at today's game! Who?! Where were they?! Nephrite (aside): My Queen, this one does not have any usable energy. C: From your perspective, what was the hardest part of the game for you? Nephrite: There was no one hard part of the game. I did not underestimate the abilities of the Senshi, unlike others. Neither team was given a break. The umpires were fair, especially the third base umpire. C: That would have been Molly? Nephrite: Yes, Molly. C: What is your opinion of how Luna managed the last half of the ninth? Nephrite: Ingenious move on Luna's part. She put in a pinch-hitter that was difficult to pinch to, then replaced her with a fast runner. With the runners on the go with Sailor Moon batting, it was going to be a close play at home to get Sailor Mars out. Still, the outcome could have gone either way. I must leave now. C: Thank you, Nephrite. I'm going over to interview Jadeite, the Overlords' starting pitcher. Jadeite, are you disappointed that you came out of the game with a no decision? Jadeite: Zzz! C: I see you're taking the loss in stride. Jadeite: >Snork!< Zzz! P: While Chad loses a battle of wits to a sleeping Jadeite, I'll inform you that we have lined up an interview with Sailor Jupiter. Sailor Jupiter went two for two with one run scored and three RBIs. She finished a close second to Nephrite in the player of the game voting among our staff. C: >puff< >puff< I'm now in the Senshi's dugout with Sailor Jupiter, the Senshi's right fielder. You went two for two today, with three RBIs. Sailor Jupiter: I went out to do my best, like the rest of my team did. We were really pumped up for this game. The Overlords have been our rivals ever since I joined the team. C: Sailor Jupiter, you were hit twice by Jadeite. How does that make you feel? Sailor Jupiter: He's such a bodacious hunkmeister. C: Excuse me? Sailor Jupiter: He reminds me of my old boyfriend. That hair, those eyes. C: Are you talking about Jadeite? Sailor Jupiter: Who? No, that guy there in the stands. C: Which guy? Him? Sailor Jupiter: Yeah, that's him. I wonder if he's nicer than my old boyfriend. Shouldn't be difficult, my old boyfriend dumped me. C: I wonder why? Sailor Jupiter: What was that?!? C: >Gulp< This is Chad, returning you to Ukyou in the booth. P: Thank you for that oh, so informative interview, Chad. BN: >Zap!< P: We'll be back with the boxscore and the final score after this message. [Commercial: Sleep-Eez featuring Jadeite - for that good night's sleep.] P: We're back at Ottawa Stadium.
