8th Inning

P: Welcome back to Ottawa Stadium for the eighth inning of the Senshi-
Overlord ball game.  The Overlords enjoy a one run lead in this tight,
evenly matched game as they come up to bat this inning.  Due to bat in
this half of the inning are Nephrite, Malachite, and Ann.

C: Yes, *we're* back.

P: The door was accidentally blocked.

C: With a chair?!?

P: Gee, I wonder who put the chair under the doorknob?

SA: Pitching for the Senshi, batting in the ninth spot, the Moonlight
Knight.

C: The Moonlight Knight has been the closer for the Senshi all this
season.  He has eighteen saves.  It is rare for him to come into the
game while the Senshi are trailing.

P: There's a meeting on the mound with all the Senshi.  It looks like
the Moonlight Knight is giving them a pep speech.

SA: Now batting, the right fielder, Nephrite!

C: Nephrite is two for three with two runs scored and one RBI.  He
struck out in his last at bat.

P: Nephrite leads off the inning against the Moonlight Knight.  This
will be the first time either has faced the other.  Nephrite steps into
the batter's box.  The Moonlight Knight winds up.  The pitch is a
fastball looked at for strike one.

C: That pitch was impressive.  I couldn't see the ball.

P: You need to comb the hair out of your eyes.  Nephrite steps back up
to the plate.  The Moonlight Knight goes into his wind-up.  The pitch is
a screaming slider.  Nephrite swings! and lines it past a diving Sailor
Moon.  It's fair!  The ball rolls into the right field corner.  Nephrite
rounds first and heads to second.  Sailor Jupiter comes up with the
ball.  Nephrite runs through the stop sign and heads to third.  Sailor
Jupiter throws a BB.  It's cut off by Sailor Mercury.  Nephrite leads
the inning with a triple!

SA: Now batting, the catcher, Malachite.

C: Malachite is one for two today with a sac fly.  He grounded out to
second in his last at bat.

P: Malachite comes to the plate with a runner in scoring position at
third.  The Moonlight Knight will be pitching from the stretch.

C: I don't get.  Jadeite's still sleeping.

P: The Moonlight Knight starts his stretch.  The pitch, a fastball.
Malachite swings! and sends a chopper up the middle.  Nephrite breaks
for home!  Sailor Mercury barehands the ball and throws home!  It's
gonna be close!  Nephrite slides into home and he's . . . out! at the
plate.  Sailor Venus comes up ready to throw to second, but Malachite
hold on first with a fielder's choice.  What a play!  Sailor Mercury
gunned out Nephrite at home for the first out of the inning and to keep
the Senshi in this tight ball game.

SA: Now batting, the shortstop, Ann!

C: Ann is two for three with two RBIs.  Ann popped out to short in her
last at bat.

P: Ann comes to the plate with one out and a runner on first.  Malachite
is on first on a fielder's choice.  Ann checks with the Wiseman for her
signs.  She steps into the batter's box.  The Moonlight Knight is
pitching from the stretch.  He checks Malachite at first.  The stretch,
the pitch.  It's a fastball.  Ann swings! and drives a grounder past the
third base side of the mound.  Sailor Saturn dives for the ball.  She
has it!  From her knees she throws to second for one and on to first to
complete! the double play!  Ann grounds into a double play to end the
inning.  The scoreboard for this inning: no runs on one hit and no
runners were left on base.  After seven and a half innings, the
Overlords lead the Senshi by a score of six to five.

P: We're back at beautiful Ottawa Stadium for the bottom half of the
eight inning of Senshi-Overlords game where the Overlords hold a six to
five lead over the Senshi with the Senshi coming to bat.  Batting this
inning for the Sailor Senshi are Sailor Neptune, Sailor Mercury, and
Sailor Saturn.

C: I get the feeling that you don't like me.

P: No.  It's not a feeling.

C: That's good.

SA: Now batting, the left fielder, Sailor Neptune!

C: Sailor Neptune is oh for two with one RBI.  She grounded out to
second in her last at bat.

P: Sailor Neptune leads the inning off for the Senshi with her team
trailing by one run.  Prisma begins her second inning of work.  Sailor
Neptune steps up to the plate.  Prisma is set, goes into her wind up.
The pitch, a fastball down the middle, swung! on and missed for strike
one.  Oh and one.

Sailor Neptune quickly gets back in the batter's box.  Prisma goes into
her wind up.  The oh-one pitch, another fastball.  Sailor Neptune
swings!  The ball goes to deep center field.  Back!  Back!  And Racy has
it at the wall for the first out!

SA: Now batting, playing second base, Sailor Mercury!

C: Sailor Mercury is one for three today.  She singled in her last at bat.

P: Sailor Mercury comes to bat with one out and no-one on base.  This is
going to be tough for the Senshi.  Sailor Mercury steps in the batter's
box.  Prisma is pitching from the wind-up.  The pitch is a breaking ball
looked at for ball one.

C: Sailor Mercury has a good eye at the plate.

P: Sailor Mercury gets the signs from Artemis.  Malachite gives Prisma
her sign.  Prisma winds up, the pitch.  A fastball.  Sailor Mercury
swings! and hits a chopper down the third base line.  Rubeus comes up
with it and throws to first for the second out.

SA: Now batting, the shortstop, Sailor Saturn!

C: Sailor Saturn is oh for three today.  She grounded into a double-play
in her last at bat.

P: Sailor Saturn comes to bat with two outs and no runners on base.  She
has a brief discussion with Artemis before stepping into the batter's
box.  Sailor Saturn gets set.  Prisma gets her sign from Malachite.  The
wind-up, the pitch, it's a fastball.  Sailor Saturn swings! and misses
for strike one.

Time is called again as Artemis runs down to talk to Sailor Saturn.
Greg gives them some time, then walks out to break up the meeting.
Sailor Saturn returns to the batter's box.  Prisma gets set.  She
pitches from the wind-up.  Another fastball.  Sailor Saturn swings and
gets a piece of it.  The ball bounces off the dirt.  Malachite sets
himself under it.  He catches it.  The throw to first is in! time for
the third out.

The scoreboard for the bottom of the eighth: the Senshi go down
one-two-three.  After eight full innings of play, the Overlords lead the
Senshi six to five.
